Liverpool F.C. are a professional soccer team based out of Liverpool, England. They were founded in 1892 and have played all of their home games at Anfield since their founding. The team wears all red kits (jersey's, shorts, and socks) for their home games. Liverpool are one of the most successful teams in England and in Europe. That is something that the club is well known for and proudly wears the club's old and new achievements on their sleeve, and rightly so. These achievements include winning the league title 18 times, in England's toughest and most competitive league, winning over 30 domestic trophies in other English tournaments, and as of recently winning their sixth European Trophy (Champions League).
However, all of these successes have not come easily for Liverpool. Within the last two decades, Liverpool had gone from one of the greatest teams in history, to being in a financial free fall and on the brink of bankruptcy. They were performing poorly in all competitions and were the laughing stock of England. This was until the owner of the Boston Red Sox purchased the club, saving it from their economic problems. Since then the club has seen a resurgence of unprecedented sorts and are now challenging for trophies, winning elite competitions, producing world class players, as well as some serious financial gains.
Just like all teams, the fan base has played a crucial role in the clubs current spree of success. Perhaps the club motto, "You'll Never Walk Alone", based off the 1960's hit song of the same name by Gerry and the Peacemakers has given the fans the hope they needed to back the team through thick and thin.
This blog is about Liverpool F.C. and the ups and downs the club has gone through recently and how the club appears to be reliving their glory days.
